Students spent several weeks learning the six types of simple machines & their uses. They also discussed examples of compound machines, which are made up of two or more simple machines (i.e. scissors). Students did AWESOME on their projects!
Matter

Students also learned all about MATTER and how it's everywhere. They learned a song with movements to help them remember the three states of matter & some of their properties. Students made wonderful books on the three states of matter, which will be hung in the hallway outside of our classroom in the coming week.

7 Steps to the Scientific Method:
1. Purpose- ask questions/set a purpose
2. Hypothesis- make a good guess about what you think will happen
3. Materials- what you need to do the experiment
4. Experiment (Procedure)- the steps you take during the actual experiment
5. Data-gathering results & creating tables/charts/graphs/pictures
6. Conclusion- telling what happened & if your hypothesis was correct

Students will learn about the 5 basic needs of all animals. They will learn about different types of animals (reptiles, mammals, etc). We will study behaviors of animals (migration, hibernation, camouflage, etc) and why they act the ways they do. We will continue our study to discuss habitats and biomes.
